How to Create the Perfect Gallery Wall for Your Home
Baltimore Family Photography
Have you had a recent Maryland photography session? (If you are still planning one check out this blog post where I give tips on how to look good in your photos.)
Are you in search of a creative way to show off your family photos?
No matter how much space you have, gallery walls are an easy way to add visual interest to your house. They are the ideal approach to make a creative statement and a great way to start a conversation.
In this article, I've included some advice for designing and building a gallery wall that complements your personality and décor style to get you started.

Think ahead.
Take all the prints you wish to use and arrange them on the floor before you begin hanging anything on the wall.
Find out which arrangement might look best on your wall by experimenting with a few different ones. Perhaps you prefer asymmetrical organization, or perhaps you like your frames nicely lined up.
Since there is no right or wrong way to construct a gallery wall, go with your personal preference!
Before hanging things up, take pictures of each configuration to aid in your decision-making and think about your possibilities.
Go wild or pick a theme.
Think about color schemes and art types when choosing a theme for your photo wall collage. Even more abstract options include displaying all of your vacation photos or those family portraits you've been meaning to hang.
Additionally, a family portrait wall collage can include art or phrases that relate to your family's common interests.
Even better, you can frame some of your kids' artwork and use it to decorate your gallery wall.
If you don't want to pick a theme, pick elements that resonate with you. To add visual appeal, look for various textures, frames, and perhaps even some 3-D elements.
If you want to add to your gallery wall over time, then whenever you find new pieces you adore, add them to the wall. This more natural design is fantastic.
Go beyond the confines of the living room.
It's not necessary for gallery walls to be arranged over a big wall or above a sofa in a living room. You may use a gallery wall to spruce up the area surrounding your television, stairwell, or even your bathroom.
Don't restrict yourself to decorating only the primary areas of your home. A sparsely decorated or neglected area can be improved with a tiny gallery wall.
Look for spaces in your house that appear a little empty, such as a long hallway or the area between a bookshelf and the ceiling.
On these walls, you could decide to hang only two or three framed items, but think about adding a gallery wall instead. It's a fantastic way to show off all of your family photos and enliven those modest rooms.
No room? No issue!
Even if you don't have any wide open wall space in your little flat or house, you can still have a gallery wall.
Look for small sections of wall or corners that could use some illumination. Even better, you can alter it up and build a vertical gallery wall, which is a fantastic way to spice up a tiny room in your house. A floor-to-ceiling gallery wall can elongate your room by giving the impression of a taller ceiling.
Additionally, your gallery wall need not be limited to a single wall. Perhaps you have a little empty space in the corner of your dining room or kitchen. Wrap a gallery wall around the corner so that it covers both walls and gives the little space more depth and interest.
Look for more opportunities to provide depth.
Look for spaces like shelving, coffee tables, and end tables where you may display your images in portfolio boxes or standing frames if you don't have enough wall space to exhibit all the family photos or art you'd like.
To add visual interest and depth to your décor, you may even place some portfolio boxes or pieces of art on top of a bookshelf or cabinet if you build a gallery wall above it.
There is always room in your home to showcase your family photos and favorite works of art, regardless of how you decide to arrange your gallery wall. A stylish gallery wall can be made with a little thinking and imagination.
Now that you have all the tips and inspiration you need, go out and hang those family portraits!
