Are you ready for an all inclusive look into The Santa Experience? I have jam packed tons of behind-the-scenes footage, bloopers, and gorgeous holiday portraits into this blog post. So, take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle and enjoy all the fun that we had during this year's Santa Experience.
In order to tell you about The Santa Experience photos I have to tell you a bit about the set. I knew I wanted to go with a classic dark and cozy style. So I scoured all the home decor stores in the Baltimore, Annapolis, D.C. area for photography props that would achieve that look. Whenever I need massive amounts of decor in a single style my go-to store is At Home. I'm lucky enough to have one right down the street.
You should see the time I collected all the pompas grass from every decor store in my area for a pompas grass fall styled maternity photography session. I had a blast planning that session too!
For my Santa Experience set up I also wanted to make sure I had some vintage stylings. I scored the most adorable vintage teddy bear family and few other vintage toys at an antique store in Annapolis, MD. They added the sweetest little touch in the background of my portraits.
Once I had all my props and backdrops ready it was time to assemble. Since I shoot fine art family photography I really took my time making sure everything looked perfect. Watch me in this timelapse video as I decorate and prepare this beautiful Christmas themed studio set up. I just wish it could have been this quick to set up in real life (ha!)
The only thing missing at this point was Santa. Watch below as I magically make Santa appear!
Wasn't that amazing!?
I'm just kidding around. But in all seriousness I had the pleasure of working with the best Santa ever! If you are in the Baltimore, Annapolis, or D.C. area and are in need of a phenomenal Santa comment below. I can send you all his details!
I love how Santa was able to work with my niece and nephew who were both nervous about the photos. Santa was able to break them out of their shells a bit and get some gorgeous photos.
Check out this video of Santa in action with kids who were nervous. He was gentle yet direct and able to make everyone feel comfortable and get great shots!
My girls thoroughly enjoyed Santa. I actually cried little happy tears while photographing them with him. It was such a sweet and tender moment for me as a mommy. Check out this behind-the-scenes video of Santa with his naughty and nice list prop. Learn more about me and my photography on my About Me page.
It wouldn't be a true Paint The Stars Photography session without some behind-the-scenes photos of me doing what I love! It's always a special moment for me when I get to photograph my girls. Read more about how I got started in photography, my family, and what kind of gear I have in my camera bag in this blog post.
Can we just take a second to admire all the outfits from The Santa Experience sessions?! Everyone looked stunning. If you're interested in tips and suggestions for how to dress for your holiday photos head over to this blog post where I break it all down for you!
If you know me at all by now you know that I'm a big advocate for printing out your artwork. Your precious family photography should not be shared once online never to be seen again. Your artwork should be hung on the walls in the rooms of your home where you spend the most time. You will feel joy every time you look at those photos and remember how much you love your family. Head over to my artwork page to learn more about my printed artwork for your family photography.
Going back through these photos makes me want to do the whole event all over again. We truly had a magical day. I cannot wait for next year's Santa Experience!
If you are in the Baltimore, Annapolis, or D.C. area please drop your email below so I can add you to my mailing list. That is the best way to stay informed about upcoming events, news, and announcements.
